Whitney Carman

The entrepreneur

I have been a lifelong apprentice in the art of fabrication. I spent most of my time with my father, owner and operator of Vermont Custom Canvas (est. 1972) in Georgia, Vermont. I benefited immensely being raised by an excellent fabricator with the most benevolent temperament, working with him was always fun and I never met a problem he couldn’t fix.

I started my first business in 2007 in North Hero, Vermont called Savage Point Canvas. In 2012 I moved to California and started Even Keel, which was the title of an article written about one of my fathers award-winning covers.

In 2014 I began a corporate journey, becoming CEO of Aloha Doors, Inc., restructuring the sole proprietorship into a corporation, learning QuickBooks, web design, tax law, audits, fire inspection, and managing large installs on new commercial buildings for hollow metal doors, including the integration of access controls.
